Anyone running a business online should read this and understand it:

http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/05/31/1441201&threshold=-1

This will impact you if it passes. It will impact casual users, too, but it could cripple people making a living running an online business.

Thanks for bringing this up Daniel, it is the type of thing that shouldn't go by unnoticed.

It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out, and how much and how many people will stand up against the tele-giants.

At least Senators Olympia Snowe of Maine and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota are trying to stand up to this. I wonder where the "big" states are in their support.

I've been hearing about this idea for many months, but until now I didn't know it had been proposed. It's amazing how fast corporations get their shit on our Congress' agenda. Thanks for alerting me to this.

I don't quite understand how this is beneficial to anybody. Not only is it going to kill off all but the highly-funded sites, it's also going to cause severe choke points or an extreme waste of money on bandwidth management devices.

They try and tax email and that falls through, and now this? I say power to the wireless. Slap a CB antenna and a low gain amp here and there (abide by FCC rules now). Suddenly, your "off the grid" so to speak. Well, until congress decides to take back those open bands because they aren't making money off it.
